IEW:   This week we’ll begin our final writing project. Students will write a 3-paragraph composition about one animal we have read about in science.  They  should choose 3 of the most appropriate sub-topics from this list: Physical Characteristics, Habitat, Feeding Habits, and/or Movement. IEW dress-ups, decorations, and sentence openers will be required for each paragraph. Students should bring their science books to class both days this week OR a photocopy of the text needed for each day’s KWO. The latter would give students an opportunity to physically highlight information they find most relevant.

Our planned writing schedule:

04/16 - 1st Paragraph KWO

04/17 - 2nd Paragraph KWO

04/18 - 3rd Paragraph KWO

04/19 - Write an introductory sentence about the chosen animal. Example: Orcas are unique creatures in the way they look, hunt, and move about the ocean. Then write your RD for paragraph 1.


04/24 - Indent and write RD for paragraph 2.

04/26 - Indent write RD for paragraph 3. Add the final clincher sentence. Parents proofread.


04/30 - FD of paragraph 1

05/01 - FD of paragraph 2

05/02 - FD of paragraph 3

05/03 – Proofread. Label, underline, and highlight required elements. Turn in Tuesday, 05/07.
