Have fun thinking of ideas!

IEW: We are continuing to work on "The Little Dutch Boy.” 4 dress-ups (v, adj,-ly adverb, and who/which clause), a prepositional phrase, a #3 sentence opener, and a decoration (alliteration) will be required but only need be included ONE time in the entire narrative. The final draft is due Tuesday, November 7.

Historical Dress Up Day/Masquerade BallHistorical Dress-up Day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 31.  Since we're studying Louis XIV in history, we will be holding a "masquerade ball" celebration to end the day on the 31st.  On Tuesday October 24th, we will be creating paper masks as a history project.  I'll encourage students to decorate that mask to coordinate with their planned historical costume. However, students are free to choose another mask to wear to the "ball." Costumes must follow the theme of our historic studies this year, which covers the time period between "The Holy Roman Empire" (1550) and"The World of  Forty-Nine" (1850).  Costume guidelines are as follows: No weapons, no gore, nothing scary, students need to be able to move and sit properly and use the restroom on their own. Have fun thinking of ideas!

IEW:
We will begin writing a second 3-part story "The Little Dutch Boy” and introduce a new dress-up (who/which clause) this week.  4 dress-ups (v, adj,-ly, and who/which clause), a prepositional phrase, a #3 sentence opener, and a decoration (alliteration) will be required but only need be included ONE time in the whole narrative. Our pace will move faster than in the previous project. We'll only spend 2 weeks on this composition.

Math:
I've emphasized to the children that neatness and order are of extreme importance as we progress to more complex multiplication and division problems. Mastering math facts will be a huge asset to students as well!

Geography:
Students will be responsible for identifying 7 states/territories of Australia: Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania.
