Math:
We are starting chapter 5 Multiplication. They have learned their 0-5 family last year in 2nd grade. In chapter 5 we will be multiplying a two or three digit number by a one digit number within the 0-5 family. If your child is struggling with their multiplication facts please spend extra time on these. Math will be easier the quicker they are at recalling their facts. Chapter 6 will be long division.
IEW:
We are continuing to work on the story of "The Fox and the Crow". We will write the RD and FD this week.
Vocab words - The only vocab words that can be used for bonus points are the two that we are studying that week. The vocab words cannot count as a dress-up and a bonus point. If you use the word twice in the paper then one can be the dress-up and the other one a bonus point.
The KWO does not have to attached and turned in. The only things that will need to be turned in is the checklist, FD, and the RD.
Historical Dress Up Day/Masquerade Ball:
Historical dress up day will be October 31st this year. We are going to have a masquerade ball to end the day on the 31st. We will be studying Louis XIV in history. On Tuesday October 22nd we will be making paper a mask for history. I will keep them for the next week when we have the masquerade ball. They can use the mask that they make in class or if you want you are welcome to buy one. I will tell them they can decorate their mask to match the costume they are going to wear if they want. Costumes must be in the theme of our historic studies this year, which will cover The Holy Roman Empire (1550) through the World of the Forty-Nine(1850). Costume Guidelines: No weapons, no gore, nothing scary, students need to be able to move and sit properly and use the restroom on their own. Have fun thinking of ideas.
