Historical Dress Up Day/Masquerade BallHistorical Dress-up Day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 31.  Since we're studying Louis XIV in history, we will be holding a "masquerade ball" celebration to end the day on the 31st.  On Tuesday October 24th, we will be creating paper masks as a history project.  I'll encourage students to decorate that mask to coordinate with their planned historical costume. However, students are free to choose another mask to wear to the "ball." Costumes must follow the theme of our historic studies this year, which covers the time period between "The Holy Roman Empire" (1550) and"The World of  Forty-Nine" (1850).  Costume guidelines are as follows: No weapons, no gore, nothing scary, students need to be able to move and sit properly and use the restroom on their own. Have fun thinking of ideas!

IEW:
We will be writing the final draft of “Damocles and the King” this week. All 3 dress-ups (v, adj,-ly) and a #3 sentence opener should be included in each paragraph.
Week 1: Setting, Characters, and Background (rough draft only, checklist A )
Week 2: Introduce Plot and Conflict (rough draft only, checklist B)
Week 3: Climax, Resolution and Theme (rough draft only, checklist C)
Week 4: We will combine all the rough drafts into a three paragraph story for a final draft. Each week will have a checklist that needs to be followed for the corresponding section. The final draft is due on Tuesday, Oct. 24.
